ABOUT PETER PAID & THIS RELEASE

Peter "Paid" Levine, a Brooklyn, New York born-and-raised artist,
with deep roots in hand-lettering, sign painting, subway graffiti, and DJing.

While in the early stages of cultivating his craft, Paid attended New York City’s
prestigious High School of Art & Design at the height of the subway graffiti era.
Attending A&D was a major catalyst for connecting with other like-minded artists.
Which further fueled his love and passion for 1980s underground Hip Hop culture.

Paid spent the mid-thru-late 1980s primarily focusing on developing his skills in
both graffiti and DJing. When not behind the turntables, and with subway trains
running on BMT lines being his favorite, Paid along with his close MSD Crew friends:
IT, BY4, YE, Sec, Dent, and Rem set out to contribute their share of bombing.
Filling the insides of subway cars with drippy ink tags, and covering the outsides
with throw-ups, panel pieces, end-to-ends, and top-to-bottoms.
Paid and his boys from Sheepshead made their indelible mark in early graff culture.

This collaboration subway train car with Hip Hop Toys / Definitive Projects,
celebrates and pays homage to those days and nights that Paid and his crew
from Brooklyn spent earning their stripes in lay-ups throughout the city.
